Disconnect to connect

I’ve been away for a couple of weeks. I decided to take myself offline and give myself some time to contemplate life and it’s honestly been great.

I will be back soon to post more but for now I suggest others take my lead and disconnect from the internet, like quite literally pull the plug out or call your ISP.  If you’re like me You’ll come to realize that sometimes you spend more time on Facebook or Entertainment sites then you need.

Neuroplasticity

I’ve been reading a new book called “How to rewire your brain” the books very promising and to highlight it’s meaning I have created a short animation:
Also while Googling around I found this slide show presention which I felt is gold so I had to share: Brain Science Applying Neuroplasticity Principles To Higher Education
View more presentations from smarkbarnes
I’m going to turn the book into a series of animated shorts and upload them on here so keep your eyes peeled to the page :)

Honesty

In the passed few months I’ve really thought about the idea of honesty;  I’ve realized the better you get to know someone over time the better you can tell when they’re lying and As Mark Twain said, “Honesty is not having to remember what you’ve said.” When I lied to others, all it really achieved is the justification of other people lying to me.  If your like me then you’ve probably lied to a girl before, and even though it helped you in the moment – you only blur the real issue because what your saying is that even in your own opinion, what you are doing is unacceptable – and how can you expect some one else to accept something that you yourself won’t stand up for and don’t believe in enough to be honest about? – It’s weak, that’s all it really isand when a foundation is built upon a weak premise it crumbles. Don’t do that. Put your heart on the line even if it hurts, because that’s where integrity comes from.

Todays Spotlight: Habitual App

A couple of months ago I found myself thinking about all the
negative habits I’d developed over the years
and how my body (and mind) could
really go for some fixing up.

As I was browser beating the crap out of my google chrome to help me find
a solution for fixing my habits I found a really awesome and free application -
HabitualApp

This program helps you to develop new habits and the way it works
is by adopting a new trial habit. For 30 days your goal should be to
follow a newly designed habit and stick with it.

If you fail to follow your habit on any given day you need to restart it from
the very beginning. This way habits are formed and they become automatic.

The good thing about forming positive habits is that research shows a
direct link between self-esteem and forming goals/habits.

For anyone who really wants to improve they’re self-esteem and
form good habits I suggest you check out the following link:
“Improve Self Esteem By Creating Habits”

World Of Warcraft: Nothing romantic about it

Does the above image look appealing to you? The other 10.3 million world of warcraft subscribers most likely think so.

But all that glitters is not gold

“To compensate for the difficulties in their lives, people spend a lot of their time daydreaming, imagining a future full of adventure, success, and romance.

If you can create the illusion that through you they can live out their
dreams, you will have them at your mercy. It is important to start slowly, gaining their trust, and gradually constructing the fantasy that matches their desires. Aim at secret wishes that have been thwarted
or repressed, stirring up uncontrollable emotions, clouding their powers of reason. The perfect illusion is one that does not depart too much from
reality, but has a touch of the unreal to it, like a waking dream,
head the seduced to a point of confusion in which they can
no longer tell the difference between illusion
and reality” – Robert Greene, The Art of Seduction

My Favorite Philosophy (in so far) – The Bhagavad Gita and lesson from it

This is my favorite philosophy inspired from the Bhagavad Gita.

  • Always be true and honest to yourself that
includes your emotions. (leading an authentic life)

In society you will always fall short if your looking
up to other peoples standards to determine your
own sense of value and In life following someone
else’s way of living (Dharma) is dangerous.

If you live your life trying to impress others
and not fulfilling what you’re here to do, you’ll
feel the pain. Enjoy who you are and always be yourself.

As a side note:

Many of us act phony in select situations and
Some of us might even be so disconnected
with who are (or never knew in the first place)
that we are actually phony most of the time.

We begin to act a certain way because of an image we
wish to project or because of a situation/social structure
within which we want to fit and that behave
that way until we don’t even know who we are.

Be true to yourself and from that you can follow
your purpose in life.
